19th Century Lace Maker's Stool

A delightful 19th Century fruitwood lace maker's stool with iron stretchers to accomodate the clogs worn by the workers. The stool stands on turned legs. This antique stool is in original condition, the thick seat is worn with age and has a double rim design with good colour and patina. The condition of this Victorian stool is good considering its long life of practical use. There is slight wear to one leg, this does not affect the stability of the stool and it is robust and stands well with no wobbles. A good example of industry in the early 19th Century when English lace makers worked in their own home. This is a useful, interesting and attractive stool, easy to place in any interior.
